WIGHTLINK are searching for the Sounds of the Summer — and they need your help.
Island musicians are being requested to submit their songs, in the chance to bag a place on the Wightlink: Sounds of the Summer Spotify playlist.
The shortlisted songs then will be voted for by the public, and the winning act will have the opportunity to perform at a launch gig on board a vessel.
Wightlink will also be offering a ferry crossing, including a van, to the winners.
Songs — preferably in a YouTube, Spotify or SoundCloud format — can be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, August 7. Voting will close on Tuesday, August 15.
And the competitions don’t stop there, Wightlink are also giving away five pairs of Sony Bluetooth headphones to those who suggest songs for the playlist.
To enter, post the song title, plus the artist, on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtags #islandstories and #wightlinktunes — and the company will give the headphones to the owners of their favourite suggestions.
A Wightlink spokesperson said: “Tell Wightlink and the world about the songs which give you that holiday vibe.
“Any song which fills you with a happy, summer holidays feeling, brings back memories of fun times spent on the Isle of Wight, or just something you would like to listen to while on the Island.
“The finished playlist will be available to all, to create or recreate that lovely ‘summer on the Isle of Wight’ atmosphere.”
The chosen artist will need to sign up with one of Spotify’s licensed companies in order to get featured (if they don’t already have a label or aggregator): https://artists.spotify.com/guide
